DC Appointed as Research Professor in B.C.
Feb. 26, Vancouver, BC – Chiropractor Dr. Paul Bishop has been appointed, by the International Collaboration on Repair Discoveries (ICORD), to act as the new research professor in Non-Operative Spine Care at Vancouver General Hospital and the University of British Columbia.  Bishop plans to focus his research on advancing the use evidence-based non-surgical spine treatments in centers across Canada.

Spring Courses - Continuing Education at CMCC
Feb. 23, Toronto, ON - The spring 2009 schedule for continuing education (CE) courses at Canadian Memorial Chiropractic College (CMCC) is now available. Areas of study include clinical acupuncture, chiropractic rehabilitation, paediatrics for the chiropractor, and whiplash, headache and vertigo.  CE distance education courses are also available.

Congrats to DCs at St. Michael's Hospital
Feb. 20, Toronto, Ont. - Canadian Chiropactor magazine would like extend its congratulations to the chiropractic clinicians and researchers at the CMCC clinic based at St. Michael's Hospital in Toronto.  Drs. Deborah Kopanski-Giles and Igor Steiman were the DCs on the interdisciplinary team that achieved the Innovations in Interprofessional Teaching Award given by the University of Toronto's Department of Family and Community Medicine Undergraduate Education Program.

U.S. Stimulus package to impact DCs
Feb. 19, Arlington, VA– In the United States, the economic stimulus package put forth by the Obama administration contains significant consideration for health care, especially in the areas of electronic patient records and wellness and prevention programs.  The American Chiropractic Association (ACA) has identified opportunities for chiropractic within this stimulus package.

Alberta Minister says health care may be changing
Feb. 7, Calgary, Alberta - Hector Goudreau, Alberta's minister of employment and immigration, talked to CTV News this evening, regarding the comments he was reported to have made, earlier this week, about the province delisting various health care services, including chiropractic.

Feb. 6. Calgary, Alberta - Alberta Health Minister Ron Liepert is not confirming reports that the province's government is considering delisting chiropractic and other minor treatments.

Alberta Tories debating to delist chiropractic
Feb. 5, Edmonton, Alberta - The government is considering delisting about 30 services from medicare that don't require coverage under the Canada Health Act, Alberta's employment and immigration minister said this week. Hector Goudreau said the province is debating whether services such as chiropractic care and mole extraction should be removed from coverage.
