July 2, 2009 - The Canadian Memorial
Chiropractic College (CMCC) announces the public launch of the online
database containing the holdings of the Archives Division of the CMCC
Health Sciences Library. This will be the first archival database
devoted solely to the study of the history of chiropractic.
The Archives Division houses a
wealth of information about the history and development of both CMCC, and of
chiropractic throughout Canada
and North America. The development of this
database is a significant step in making these resources available to
researchers throughout the world and represents a powerful tool in promoting
the study of the history of chiropractic worldwide. Unique among chiropractic
organizations, this searchable database lists all the archival records held in
the CMCC archives as well as a large selection of photographs illustrating the
history of CMCC and of chiropractic.
Access the database through the
CMCC Web site at www.cmcc.ca .
Go to:
Resources>> Health Sciences Library>> Archives Database
This page provides two separate
search engines. One will search the entire database. The other will search only
the photographic component of the database. Both use a simple, key word search
with advanced search options.
The archives database is a work
in progress. Searching aids for newly described records, and items of
particular interest, are continually being added and the database itself
evolves almost daily. Initiatives of this kind do not happen in a vacuum, and
the development of this database is a co-operative venture. The CMCC Archives
division would like to acknowledge the Canadian Chiropractic Historical
Association for their ongoing support.
