Students from across the continent received Doctor of Chiropractic degrees from the College of Chiropractic at Northwestern Health Sciences University on April 9, 2010. This was Northwestern’s 126th chiropractic commencement ceremony. The
graduating class consisted of 85 students, 13 of whom graduated with
academic honors.

From Georgia to Manitoba, students in this graduating class hailed from 15 different states and three Canadian provinces. Within this class, 30 students earned a bachelor of science degree in human biology. Class valedictorian was awarded to Andrea Marie Burckhard.

Graduating chiropractic student Matthew Christenson was chosen by the class to give the student greeting. Rick McMichael, DC, FACC, FICC, president of the American Chiropractic Association, delivered the commencement address.

More than 1,000 people attended the ceremony and reception, held on Northwestern's campus.

Northwestern Health Sciences University
is collaborating with HealthPartners to open an integrated clinic. The new clinic will create a new model of care that blends the strengths of traditional medicine and natural care disciplines to provide a collaborative, team approach to meeting patient health care needs. The clinic will be located in Cottage Grove, Minnesota and opened on April 19, 2010.

The clinic will include a family physician and doctors of chiropractic on staff as well as an urgent care center. Ryne DeVries, DC, FACO, assistant professor at Northwestern, will be the chiropractor on staff at the new clinic.

"We look forward to opening the clinic in Cottage Grove,” said Mark Zeigler, DC, president of Northwestern.  It will bring new opportunities for integration and collaboration between providers from Health Partners and Northwestern. We are proud of this new relationship and the possibilities it brings to provide patient-centered, evidence-informed care through shared decision making.”
