An opportunity to comment on the new CCE-USA accreditation draft

Sept 10, Simcoe, ON – The U.S. Council on Chiropractic Education (CCE-USA) has recently proposed revisions to its current accreditation standards. The new standards draft is available for review and commentary by Doctors of Chiropractic – comments must be submitted to CCE by Sept. 24, 2010.

The document, titled CCE Accreditation standards-Principles, Processes and Requirements for Accreditation can be accessed at http://www.cce-usa.org/uploads/Draft__2_Standards_Combined.pdf.  Within it are CCE’s newly proposed guidelines for a number of elements such as acceptable training programs for chiropractors – and/or any viable equivalent that may meet with the approval of CCE – as well as listings and of scope of and exclusions for practice.

The Council on Chiropractic Education (CCE) is the agency recognized by the U.S. Secretary of Education for accreditation of programs and institutions offering the doctor of chiropractic degree.  However, as its newly proposed guidelines introduce the acknowledgement and acceptance of some significant precedents for chiropractic education and practice that may become compelling to accreditation bodies in other countries, the opportunity to review and comment on the draft is also relevant for chiropractors in other jurisdictions.

Various chiropractic individuals and groups are already commenting on the draft – and any significant departures from current guidelines found within it – and are calling upon all DCs to harness this opportunity to also comment.

To exercise your voice in shaping educational and practice guidelines within the profession of chiropractic, please visit www.cce-usa.org , download the Drafts Standards Comments form, fill it out and submit it to the CCE by September 24, 2010.
