Proud moment

Fifteen years ago my husband and I – with our one-year-old toddler in tow – immigrated to Canada, full of hope and anticipation for what we could bring to this country and what this country could offer us. Now with two teenage boys, who have their whole futures ahead of them, we are proud to call this country our home and its people, our people.

I have never been more proud than when, as a nation, we opened our doors to thousands of Syrian refugees fleeing their war-torn country. Canada was one of the first countries to respond to what is being called the worst humanitarian crisis in modern history.

Such an inspiring nation can only produce equally inspiring citizens, and we don’t have to look very far to find some of these exemplary individuals than in our own chiropractic community. Our cover story (page 18) features a few of these individuals. They are the top winners of our annual Canadian Chiropractor Inspire Awards. In their own ways, these doctors have gained the admiration and respect of peers and patients.

We have received many nominations this cycle and read some great stories through the process. Many of them are worthy of recognition. So, before you read the stories of our winners, I am happy to list below this year’s Inspire Award honourable mentions:

  • Dr. Kent Stuber, Calgary, Alta.
  • Dr. Kevin Hooper, Meaford, Ont.
  • Dr. Scott Levine, Toronto, Ont.
  • Dr. Ayla Azad, Ajax, Ont.
  • Dr. Andreo Spina, Vaughan, Ont.
  • Dr. Jamie Richards, Blenheim, Ont.
  • Dr. Lindsay Heubner, Pembroke, Ont.
  • Dr. Allan Oolo-Austin, Toronto, Ont.
  • Dr. Kristi Laycraft, Calgary, Alta.
  • Dr. Fred Meinzer, Aldergrove, B.C.

Many thanks to our wonderful editorial advisory board members who volunteered to be part of the judging panel. Congratulations to all and please continue to be a blessing and inspiration to others!

We want your feedback! Please take a moment to answer the Canadian Chiropractor national market survey. We want to get a snapshot of the Canadian chiropractic market. We will share our findings in the July/August 2016 issue.
