March 12, 2010 – Dynamic disc designs – A fully Canadian company created and run by Jerome Fryer, DC - who has brought spine practitioners the most realistic and clinically instructive lumbar disc models since 2006, now introduces two cervical spine models and two new lumbar models, including the surgical simulator.

Vascular Clear CxH cervical disc model

Crafted with the same materials, and based on equally detailed and up-to-date research as ddd’s lumbar models, these two new cervical models are copies based on real human bone structure, and contain a two-part intervertebral disc that can be manipulated for demonstration through six degrees of freedom.  The models are designed to demonstrate annular disruption, nuclear migration with manual compression, including posterior nuclear migration with various compressive loads, and shows the fibrous nucleus pulposus.

Biomechanical LxH lumbar disc model

Both of ddd’s new lumbar models offer a realistic two-part disc with six degrees of freedom and an L4 endplate lens.

As the name suggests, the Biomechanical LxH can be used for biomechanical testing. The model demonstrates higher tensile and tear strength annular properties, a white fibrous nucleus pulposus and is able to withstand forces known to cause endplate failure.

Surgical Simulator LxH lumbar disc model

The Surgical Simulator LxH model demonstrates a full radial tear, white fibrous nucleus pulposus and simulated granulation with extruded material.   This model has been tested by a neurosurgeon to ensure anatomical, spatial and tensile accuracy.
