July 24, Grand Blanc, Mich. – The International Chiropractic Scoliosis Board (ICSB) recently published its first consensus paper on scoliosis treatment in the Journal of Scoliosis Rehabilitation.

The review of literature was a collaboration of efforts by five fellows of the newly formed organization and spear headed by Dr. Mark Morningstar, president of the ICSB. The paper provides recommendations and review of scoliosis treatment from the perspective of how the soft tissue, bony tissue, and neurological tissues are affected by the condition individually and how the treatment methodologies could be applied to obtain maximum patient benefit.

"The chiropractic profession to date has had several different proprietary organizations related to scoliosis treatment. This first ICSB position paper was written in the hopes that chiropractic physicians can begin to collaborate on identifying what the most appropriate outcomes are for scoliosis patients seeking chiropractic care." said Dr. Morninginstar. "It is also our objective to begin taking close looks at non-musculoskeletal triggers for scoliosis development and progression, as well as to develop patient care models that help predict an individual patient's response chiropractic treatment of scoliosis."
