A Toronto-based specialist medical-legal practice is offering this unique, part-time opportunity for a chiropractor seeking a challenging environment with flexibility, variety and hands-on medical learning. A medical-legal specialist with an established network and a thriving, successful practice is expanding her business with a brand-new office equipped for medical-legal assessments and the production of thorough, accurate, unbiased reports. In joining this practice, the chiropractor will have the opportunity for hands-on learning in brain injury, polytrauma and pain. This opportunity is ideal for chiropractors seeking to flexibly supplement their own chiropractic practices with complementary medical assessment skills for future career advancement. Working hours are Wednesdays and Fridays, 8 hours per day with additional flexible hours depending on applicant’s availability.

Day-to-day tasks which comprise this uniquely flexible opportunity include: • Intake assistant duties: Interviewing claimants based on an established, structured template, notetaking during the physician interview and chaperoning the physician’s physical examination. • File summaries: Reviewing medical briefs to produce file summaries based on provided guidelines. • Quality assurance: Reviewing medical-legal reports for errors and inconsistencies prior to delivery to clients. • Communications: Acting as point of contact for and developing strong relationships with referral sources. • Business operations: Leveraging clinical and business acumen to improve internal business operations and processes. • Administrative tasks: Communicating with referral sources (not directly with claimants) to book 8-10 assessments per month; sending and tracking reports and invoices to referral sources. Qualifications and Skills • Chiropractic degree preferred (individuals with other professional degrees may apply) • Knowledge of medical terminology and prior experience in the medical-legal industry an asset • Knowledgeable regarding healthcare privacy and confidentiality issues • Fast learner and strong desire to acquire new knowledge and skills • Highly detail-oriented and accurate in their work. Perfectionists welcome! • Excellent analytical, critical thinking and deductive reasoning skills to interpret information, and identify specific areas that require further investigation, action, etc. • Excellent professionalism and interpersonal skills • Ability to perform duties in a self-directed manner with minimal supervision • Positive, cheerful attitude and sets high standards for themselves and their work • Excellent English reading, writing and speaking skills • Proficient computer skills – MS Word, Excel, Google apps • Excellent organizational and time management skills
