Oct. 8, Toronto, ON – The
Canadian Memorial Chiropractic College (CMCC) Division of Continuing Education announces
its annual conference on Advancements in
Chiropractic, integrating the 2nd annual research symposium with
its first ever CMCC Colloquium. The two day event will be held at CMCC campus on
Oct. 24 and 25th.
Research Symposium – Managing
Patient Health: Pain and Beyond
More than 2,200 different
disorders produce pain as part of their clinical presentation and pain is the
primary reason for which a patient will seek care. The CMCC Research Symposium –
titled Managing Patient Health: Pain
& Beyond – will be a full day of sessions to be held on day one of this
year’s conference. The symposium will feature distinguished local and
international practitioners, and some of the brightest minds in chiropractic,
who will share their experience and understanding of pain –both
non-musculoskeletal and related to musculoskeletal issues – to advance
professional knowledge of its origin and treatment.
“Pain clearly holds a key role in the
evaluation of our health,” notes Dr. Jay Triano, Dean of Graduate Education and
Research Programs at CMCC. “The more we understand about its origins in the
body, the greater will be our ability to use it as a diagnostic and evaluative
tool for improved patient care.”
Research symposium
presentations and panel discussions will include Drs. Heather Tick, Bernadette
Murphy, Michael Schneider, Heidi Taylor, Jeff Herbert and Cheryl Hawk as well as CMCC faculty
Drs. Jay Triano, Howard Vernon, Silvano Mior and Brian Budgell.
The symposium wraps up with an
early evening reception and a keynote address from Dr. Carlo Ammendolia, staff
chiropractor at Mt.
Sinai Hospital,
speaking on the Imposters in Spine Care – Lumbar Spinal Stenosis and
Sacroiliitis.
First-ever CMCC Colloquim – Reconciling subluxation and science
On day two of the conference,
the first ever CMCC Colloquium entitled Reconciling Subluxation and Science
promises to be a lively discussion among many of the CMCC research faculty from
the symposium, joined by colleagues Drs. Phil Bolton and Bernadette Murphy. The
discussion will centre around the quantity and quality of scientific evidence
pertaining to subluxation with the objective of building a modern understanding
of the concept and next steps to guide future work.
